General Details
Come worship God, eat pizza and shoot people with Nerf guns! This event is an event for gathering people together from various churches who volunteer or work with youth, do camp ministries, generally considered a young adult or are energetic supporters, to have a good time. Hopefully you will meet some new people, eat a good amount of pizza and have a blast! Worship starts at 11.30 and the event as a whole will end at 2.30 to ensure any people coming from out of town can get home safely. SMiV has lent us their site to enjoy at 17 Webber Cres, Calwell ACT, see the map below. Contact me if you have any particular questions that aren’t answered below: michael.shaw@synergy.org.au We are asking for a $5 donation to cover costs for this event. Payment methods will be covered in the coming week or so!
Q&A
General Event
Who is this event for?
This event is for Synergy Leaders, Youth Leaders, young adults, or even energetic supporters of Synergy.
I will have to leave early or arrive late, can I come?
It would be best if most/all people are there for worship at 11.30 however if you arrive before midday you’ll still be in the pizza order!
If you have to leave early, that’s fine! Of course, too early and you will miss out on your pizza.
$5 Donation? What do you mean by that?
$5 starts recovering some costs, due to price increases it doesn’t cover all costs though, if you feel like donating more we’d love that. If you can’t donate anything, we’d still love you there to enjoy the event.
Where is the event?
SMiV (St Mary’s in the Valley) has offered their church and hall for us! They are at 17 Webber Cres, Calwell ACT, – https://maps.app.goo.gl/22AjiYtNCfcdZ5dW7
Pizza
Who’s making the pizza?
We’ll put in a Domino’s order to pick up the pizza.
I have a dietary condition, will you be able to cater?
If Domino’s can, yes! Just be sure to note it when we pass around the pizza order sheet. If not, there is access to a fridge and microwave if you wish to heat up your own food.
I hate pizza, can I bring my own lunch?
Yes, you can.
Nerf
Can I bring my own Nerf Guns?
Yes! But ensure your guns are identifiable, if you don’t want to write your name another idea is to tie a ribbon on the gun. We will borrow a chest of Nerf guns, they are unmarked, so any unmarked gun is assumed to be a borrowed one. We will take no responsibility for any lost items or damages.
Also, please follow these rules:
- No powered Nerf guns, it is slightly unfair if you can shoot automatically and everyone else is shooting manually.
- No modified Nerf guns, all Nerf guns should have the safety features still in place.
- There is no guarantee that your Nerf darts (if you bring them) will come back to you.
- We will not have a surplus of any “specialised” Nerf darts (i.e. if you bring a Mega Nerf gun, or a Disc Nerf Gun, we won’t have excess darts for those)
What if I don’t want to participate in the Nerf games?
We of course can’t force you!
I am passionate about safety, what’s the plan there?
I get you! An important rule will be no intentional headshots, which should be reasonably affective, but if you would like eye protection, there will be a bucket of safety glasses! The main game we will be playing is a slower paced but high intensity game, which will also mean intentional shots are more important than randomly shooting.
